There were many surprises during the Labour Day weekend games in the CFL. You wouldn’t exactly call any of them “classics”, but there were some intriguing developments as 3 of the 4 underdogs won, and won big. All games will be rematches this week, that’ll feature a couple of key receivers returning for two teams, and one team starting a new quarterback.

Calgary Stampeders (-3.5) at Edmonton Eskimos – Total: 52

The heavily favoured Stampeders were embarrassed at home on Labour Day 35-7, which actually sets up a very intriguing match going back to Edmonton that sees the Stampeders as 3 ½ point favourites. Home dogs are always nice to back, despite the fact that many people still believe that Calgary are the true elite team in the West, yet it’s the Eskimos that are 2-0 this year against them. The Eskimos will also be getting top CFL receiver Fred Stamps back, which should make this the kind of game to recommend the OVER for. The last five times Calgary has visited Edmonton, the score has gone OVER.
